Zipline Eco Tour

Propel down 5 separate zip lines dropping from 600 feet above sea level with one run that is 1,100 lineal feet long all on its own. This incredible Catalina zip line experience will forever change your idea of what a tour should be. You will travel nearly three-quarters of a mile over five consecutive zip lines at heights of 300 feet above the canyon floor at speeds pushing 40 mph.

Beginning at the Hogsback Gate, high in the hills near Avalon and descending through Descanso Canyon, you will pause at several eco-stations along the way before continuing on your zip line journey. At each station, your hosts will give you a presentation on some of the unique and interesting aspects of Catalina Island, its wildlife, history, and the areas you are passing through. Eventually exiting at Descanso Beach, your Catalina Island zip line journey will last approximately 2 hours and your memories will last a lifetime.

All participants are required to sign an acknowledgment of risk and release of liability waiver during the check-in process 20 minutes before a scheduled tour. Participants under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian sign for them at this time. Without parental consent and signature, minors will not be permitted on tour and will not be refunded or rescheduled.

Zip line staff is in no way obligated to begin or complete a tour for a participant or group that appears to be impaired, ignoring staff instructions, or that is found in any way to be endangering the safety of themselves, others or the course environment. Such participants and/or those found disturbing the peace of other guests with profanity, vulgarity or otherwise will be kindly evacuated from the course and not allowed to continue the tour. Refunds or rescheduling will not be offered in either of these situations. Smoking is not allowed while on the tour.

Height & Weight Requirements: All zipline participants must be at least 55″ tall and weight between 80 lbs. – 240 lbs. All participants will be measured and weighed, fully clothed, during the check-in process before each tour. **Those unable to meet all of the requirements will not be permitted to zip, will not be offered a refund or will not be rescheduled.**

Age Requirements: Participants at least 10 years of age weighing at least 80 lbs. may ride solo. Participants may not ride tandem with tour guides or with any other participants.

Footwear Requirements: Securable, closed-toe shoes are required. Athletic shoes are recommended. We do offer a limited number of shoes to rent if proper footwear is unavailable otherwise.

Appropriate Gear: No participant on the tour is permitted to use any other gear (helmet, harness, trolley, etc.) besides that which is provided by the Catalina Zip Line Staff at the outset of the tour.

Other Requirements: Long shorts or pants are suggested. Skirts, belly shirts and bathing suits will not be permitted. Please remove dangling earrings. Participants with long hair must secure hair with a hair tie or similar accessory. We will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged belongings. Please store any and all unnecessary items in lockers provided during tour check-in.

Health Requirements: All participants on tour are required to hike short distances, ascend and descend stairs, need to be of average mobility and strength, and in reasonably good health. We do not recommend participation with preexisting injuries, back, neck, or heart issues. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure whether ziplining on Catalina Island is suitable for you. If questions still remain, please speak to one of our representatives before booking your Zip Line Tour. If upon arrival it is made clear to the Zip Line staff that you are not of adequate mobility, strength, or health, for your safety we do reserve the right to refuse your participation on the tour. Because of the potential health and safety risk to the baby, pregnant guests will not be permitted to participate. For your safety, you should be in good health & free from high blood pressure, heart, neck or back problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this tour. Due to the adventurous nature of this tour, it is not wheelchair accessible.

GET DIRECTIONS

Yes. There are a limited number of spots per departure time and they do sell out, especially on cruise ship days and throughout the summer season. To ensure you get to get the time slot you prefer, make sure you reserve your spot early.

Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your tour start time – you will need to complete a digital waiver and be fitted with a helmet and harness. If you do not arrive at least 20 minutes early, you may not be able to zip at your booked time slot & may forfeit your reservation.

You are welcome to bring your GoPro or phone with you on tour at your own risk. For guests with a GoPro, please let your guide know you’d like a helmet mount when you are getting your harness/gear. These are available at no additional cost. Larger phones or cameras may be difficult to hold/carry while zipping.

There are lockers conveniently located at the Zip Line Base Camp near the Descanso Canyon Adventures Desk. These are available only while you are on tour. You will be provided a key to wear/carry on tour and can retrieve your items at the conclusion of your experience. Lockers can accommodate small backpacks, purses, wallets, phones, etc.

Restrooms are available at Zip Line Base Camp, across from the Zip Line Booth at Descanso Beach. There are not restrooms on the individual platforms. You should, therefore, visit the restrooms before you check-in and get fitted with your helmet and harness.

• Casino Building: 3-5 minutes
