Immerse yourself in the 1920s atmosphere of the world’s most famous circular ballroom. Lace up a pair of vintage-style roller skates and take an eight-cylinder spin around the circular dance floor—just as William Wrigley Jr. imagined for the original Sugarloaf Casino in 1926 (the building that preceded the current Casino Building).

Once you enter the building you’ll be going up, up, up the ramps to the ballroom. Restrooms are located on the mezzanine level (after 4 ramps) if you need a breather and a break. Skates will be provided once you’re upstairs (2 more ramps up) and can only be used on the ballroom floor. They are not permitted to be used on the balcony, ramps, or other levels of the building. The following skate sizes are available for use:

You can expect to have a fun time, skating on the iconic nearly-century-old floor. Food & beverage are available for purchase during select hours and menus are subject to change.
All guests are required to read and sign the Casino’s Roller Skating Waiver prior to participating. Personal skates are not permitted on the ballroom floor. All guests must wear socks, available for purchase if needed. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult participant or spectator.
Skating instructions are not provided. Guests should be comfortable skating on their own and should be in good health to do so.
Remember to bring socks. Wear comfortable clothes based on the season. Due to the ramps, high heels are not recommended. Purchases made onsite, including sock rentals, will be cashless – please plan accordingly and bring a credit or debit card or your phone loaded with your digital wallet. Photo ID will be required for anyone enjoying alcohol.
Skate the Wrigley Ballroom
Casino Building
1 Casino Way, Avalon, CA 90704
Is food & beverage included in the Skate the Wrigley Ballroom experience?
No – there is food & beverage available for purchase onsite. You may NOT bring your own food & beverage with you into the building except for bottled water. Guests who bring their own food & beverage may be asked to leave without refund.
How far is the Casino Ballroom from certain areas?
Walking time to common locations:
Can I just go into the building if I’m not skating?
Guests who are not skating can purchase a spectator ticket for admission into the building or guests can purchase the Casino Building general admission during the day to see the building. Your admission helps with the maintenance for the nearly 100-year old building.
I forgot my socks! What now?
Come on up to the ballroom. We have sock available for purchase so you can still participate. Make sure you have a cashless option to pay for your socks since the building is cashless (credit card, debit card, or digital wallet purchases available). You can also find socks at a handful of businesses in Avalon who take cash.
Is there an age or skill requirement?
Skating is open to all ages! Whether you’re a seasoned rink-master or a total beginner, the ballroom’s circular layout makes it easy for everyone to find their rhythm. We do recommend that children be old enough to maintain their balance confidently. Skate size starts at big kids size 1, typically fits a 7-year old.
Do I need to bring my own skates?
Nope! Your booking includes a pair of our high-quality, vintage-style roller skates. No outside skate sets are permitted.
How long is each skating session?
Each session typically lasts 60 minutes (1 hour), giving you plenty of time to find your “skate legs,” take photos, and enjoy the incredible architecture.
Is the ballroom air-conditioned?
The Casino was designed with a natural “ocean breeze” cooling system, featuring massive windows and French doors that open to the harbor. It stays remarkably comfortable, but you’ll definitely work up a glow once you start moving! Consider wearing layers so you can be comfortable no matter the weather.
Can I take photos and videos?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. The Wrigley Ballroom is one of the most photographed spots on the island. We just ask that you be mindful of other skaters while capturing your “Golden Age” moment.
Are there restrooms at the Casino?
Yes, there are restrooms, and they are just as historic (and perhaps a bit “spirited”) as the rest of the building! The closest restrooms to the Ballroom can be found on the Mezzanine level, just below the ballroom. Head to the left for women’s restrooms, to the right for men’s restrooms. There are also restrooms located on the ground level of the building by the fuel dock if you need them before or after your visit.
Fun Fact: The ladies’ room in the Casino is actually famous among paranormal enthusiasts—some visitors claim to have heard “phantom” voices or sobbing while fixing their hair. It’s all part of the building’s 1920s mystique!
