Dolphin & Sea Lion Excursion:

Once you arrive on the island, our six passenger boat will take you from Avalon out into the Pacific Ocean in search of our favorite species, the common dolphin. During whale migration season we will also travel out to see whales as they migrate through the nutrient-rich waters of Catalina Island.

What wildlife will we see on our Dolphin & Sea Lion Excursion?  Frequent visitors to our coast include common dolphin, Risso’s dolphin, gray whales, blue whales, fin whales, harbor seals, sea lions, resident bald eagles, and sometimes even a buffalo along the coastline. Although we cannot guarantee we will see dolphins on each trip, we can guarantee the captain will work his or her hardest to locate them and use all of our local connections to find their whereabouts!

What type of boat is used for our Dolphin & Sea Lion Excursion?  C-STAR is a 24-foot, Coast Guard inspected center console boat that has been specially modified to comfortably accommodate up to six passengers on coastline tours. She has ample seating at the front and rear as well as numerous handrails to hold onto while you are gazing over the side at the dolphins playing in the bow wake. She has a brand new Yamaha outboard motor that boasts  EPA “Ultra Low Emissions” as well as the utmost reliability and quietness. She also has all new seat cushions for comfort and a 9-speaker sound system.

Where does the Dolphin & Sea Lion Excursion travel?  This 1-hour adventure takes full advantage of Catalina Island’s abundant wildlife and scenic coastline. Our six-passenger boat will take you from Avalon into the Pacific Ocean along the coastline of Santa Catalina Island. Your trusty captain will travel east and/or west depending on where the wildlife is, so get ready to explore!

Parasail Ride:

Our friendly, experienced crew will assist you throughout your trip. One at a time the crew will assist you in securing your life vest and harness. Once they have launched the chute you will be asked to walk to the back deck of the boat so they can clip you in. You will sail away without ever touching the water. After your hang time in the chute, you will be brought back down to the boat. Lift your legs and land on your feet from the same spot you took off from! Explore our bay while soaring over Avalon!

How long is the ride?  Each flight is about 7 – 8 minutes of air time. Most trips are about an hour, depending on how many others are on the boat with you.

What to bring and wear:  Please check the Avalon, CA weather forecast and dress appropriately. Wear comfortable clothes, based on the season you are visiting. You may want to wear your suit/swim trunks if you are riding in the summer, especially if you choose to get dipped in the ocean. Small bags/purses can be accommodated, but please do not bring any large bags aboard. Larger bags can be left securely at the Cabrillo Mole. You may wish to bring spending money with you, as the tour guide & crew gratuity is not included in this package. Minimum age to parasail is 6; minimum age to ride along is 5.

Restrictions:  For your safety, you should be in good health & free from high blood pressure, heart, neck or back problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this tour. These activities are generally not wheelchair accessible. Due to the nature of these boat rides, guests who are pregnant cannot attend. Catalina Island weather may impact this excursion.
